There would no doubt be all sorts of health and safety regulations to prevent this type of activity nowadays.
But in 1960, when this picture was taken, rules were a little less rigorous.
The children at Speedwell School, Littlemore, Oxford, were happy to climb aboard this giant frame and pose for the Oxford Mail photographer.
Hanging and sitting, they made an excellent picture for page three of the paper on May 17, under the headline, The young commandos.
Teachers and parents were happy for them to have their photograph taken, and as far as we are aware, no-one came to any harm.
The commando-style frame, called a climbing bridge, had been installed in the school playground, thanks to the generosity of the school's parent-teacher association.
The bridge cost £53 and the school saved money because it was erected by one of the parents, Mr J Dorrill, of Littlemore.
The children's verdict on the bridge? "It's worth hanging on to."
