AN Oxfordshire care provider is this week aiming to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and hydration, as part of a global campaign.

Bluebird Care Oxford (South and West Oxfordshire) is supporting this year’s Nutrition & Hydration Week which runs from today until Sunday, March 18.

For the campaign, the care provider, in partnership with medical nutrition organisation, Nutricia, has created a fact sheet on its website to promote the importance of maintaining healthy eating.

The awareness week aims to highlight nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and even globally.

Bluebird Care provides home and live in care, specialising in working with customers who live with dementia, physical disabilities and other acute and chronic conditions.

Managing Director at Bluebird Care Oxford (South & West Oxfordshire), Robert Mezo, said: “Nutrition and hydration are very important issues in society and as a care provider, it is important that we do all we can to support and educate our community on these issues.

“We encourage everyone to visit our website and download the fact sheet which contains key advice on nutrition.”

The fact sheet includes information on what a healthy diet entails and tips to improve nutrition.

Some of the tips include having plenty of starchy foods, along with fruit and vegetables as well as focusing on foods that are a good energy source.

Throughout March, Bluebird Care Oxford (South & West Oxfordshire) is also supporting national Deep-Vein Thrombosis Awareness Month, an initiative aiming to raise awareness of the medical condition and its potentially fatal complications.

Although DVT is common and a major cause of death in the UK, many people have little or no understanding of its causes and effects.
