WITH stalls heaving with model trains, old fashioned cars and aircraft and rows of tin soldiers, Kidlington’s Exeter Hall was transformed into a huge vintage toy shop.
But adults far outnumbered children for its Toy and Train Collector’s Fair on Saturday – which saw hobbyists buying and selling valuable items, which were not just playthings.
Toys ranged in value from £1 lead soldiers to 100 year-old model trains worth several hundred pounds.
The event was organised by Richard Atkins, who said: “We had a good event with about 400 people through the doors – some coming quite a distance.”
He added: “For a lot of people it is nostalgia. They are looking for things they couldn’t find or afford when they were younger. It’s like reliving childhood.
“We are all children at heart – we just don’t wear short trousers.”
