AN ARMY captain who was recently repatriated via RAF Brize Norton died after being struck by a forklift on an airbase in Iraq, an inquest revealed.
Captain Dean Sprouting of the Adjutant General’s Corps, who was repatriated on February 7, died at Al Asad Air Base on January 31 while serving with Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland.
This week Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter revealed some of the initial facts regarding his death. It is understood that Capt Sprouting had been out for a run on the base and was returning when he was struck by the 'forklift-type plant vehicle'. He was taken to a medical facility where he died.
