FAMILY and friends helped Steven Wanna celebrate how far he has come since a hit-and-run driver left him for dead on an Oxfordshire road a year ago.
The Cowley student sustained horrific injuries on February 14, 2017 that left him in a coma for three months and having to relearn how to walk.
His mother, Sandy Mar, hosted a party for him in East Oxford yesterday. She said: “I wanted him to have a really good birthday with all his friends here and focus on the fact he is still with us."
Mr Wanna was struck by a car as he was walking along a road towards Oxford in the early hours of his birthday on February 14, 2017.
He was found by his friends lying unconscious in the middle of the A4074 between the Golden Balls and Berinsfield roundabouts, near Nuneham Courtenay.
There have been no arrests and yesterday police launched a fresh appeal for information to find the person responsible.
