A RANGE of improvements to bus services in West Oxfordshire have been rolled out after people across the district gave their comments.

Stagecoach has made changes to the S1, S2, S7, 11, 15, 19 and 233 following a consultation earlier in the year.

The changes will provide improved connections at Hanborough Station and see extra services linking towns like Witney and Carterton to Oxford.

Martin Sutton, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire’s managing director, said: “We would like to thank everyone who provided feedback on these services earlier in the year.

"The timetables for many of our services in West Oxfordshire will change with extra evening and Sunday buses on service S1 to meet the increase in demand expected with the opening of the new Westgate Centre. And with other adjustments to improve punctuality and reliability.

“We wanted to make the improvements in time for the new school and college terms and ensure we’re prepared for the exciting Westgate opening which happens in October.”

The changes see extra buses in the mornings, evenings and on Sundays to the S1 service, which runs between Oxford and Carterton, taking in Witney.

Changes to the timetables of the S1, S2, S7, 15 and 19 have been made to combat traffic congestion and improve reliability.

There are also extra 233 services, increasing to every half an hour between Woodstock and Burford, providing better connections at Hanborough Station.

This change is being funded by developer contributions, and Oxfordshire County Council hopes it will allow new residents to travel to work and school, providing an alternative to car travel.
