POLICE are seeking to reunite an antique ceremonial sword with its owner after it was handed into a police station.
The sword was handed over to officers after a member of public found it in the street on Sunday.
Police have not yet revealed the street in which the sword was found.
The sword has a number of inscriptions:
“From his affectionate friends Ida and Tom Downing”
“Edward Thorne of London”
“B G Baley"
“April 7th 1915”
“Royal Engineers”
The owner of the sword has been asked to bring proof of ownership to the front counter at St Aldates Police Station in Oxford.
