BRADLEY Smith missed the MotoGP in Barcelona after crashing heavily in the fourth practice session on Saturday.

The rider, from Forest Hill, damaged the little finger on his left hand following the fall at the second corner.

While doctors ruled out the need for an operation, Smith was declared unfit to ride his Red Bull KTM.

It is a double blow for the 26-year-old, who will also miss a valuable test at the circuit on Monday.

Smith will return to hospital this week and is hopeful he will be fit for the next round, in Holland, in a fortnight.

Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso won yesterday’s race, with Smith’s teammate Pol Espargaro finishing 18th.
