A TEENAGE boy remains in hospital after he was punched to the ground and kicked by a man near Cowley Road.

Police said today the boy was attacked when he was walking along Stockmore Street, East Oxford, between 4.45pm and 5.30pm on Thursday.

He was approached by a man from behind, who punched him to the ground and kicked him.

The victim received face injuries and remains in the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington.

Police said the attacker is described as an Asian man, of skinny build and aged about 19 years old.

He is understood to be about 5ft 9ins, has black hair, a thin beard and was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit at the time of the assault.

Investigating officer, PC Emilie Tomann said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this assault to come forward.

"This incident happened in the early evening and we believe there would have been witnesses in the area at the time.

"We would ask anyone with information to come forward and call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
