A PLAQUE paying tribute to Molly Rose, one of the Spitfire Women who delivered planes to Second World War pilots, is expected to be unveiled at RAF Brize Norton.
Mrs Rose, from Bampton, West Oxfordshire, died aged 95, in October last year.
She delivered 273 Spitfires wit h the Air Transport Auxiliary and as a result was known as one of the Spitfire Women.
Her son, Graham Rose, from Appleton, said his mother delivered planes to RAF Brize Norton.
He added: “I was contacted by the Station Commander, Group Captain Tim Jones, who said he wanted to put up a plaque remembering my mother.
“I said it should also pay tribute to Mary Ellis, who also flew Spitfires and is now 100, and he agreed.
“Mary Ellis was born in Leafield and her mother and father moved to farm at Brize Norton Manor Farm when she was young.
“Mary is thrilled with the proposal and is hoping to attend a ceremony at the base, which is being planned for March 14.”
