THIS is what the new Templars Square shopping centre could look like after its £60m transformation is complete.

Artist impressions for the major regeneration, which will see 225 new homes and a new 71-bed hotel be built if plans are passed by Oxford City Council, have been put on display to the public.

The homes will range from one to three-bed apartments.

A restaurant space will be created alongside the hotel as well as improved pedestrian paths and street scene, car parking and new entrances to the centre.

This fly-through video gives a sneak-peak tour of how the new shopping centre in Cowley could end up appearing.

Proposals submitted in November last year also include the demolition of the Castle car park. If approved it is understood almost 60 new jobs will be created along with 300 construction roles while the work is being carried out.

Jamie Whitfield, development manager at NewRiver, said he was thrilled with the level of support for the plans, which will be the largest investment in the shopping area for more than 30 years. Car parking, anti-social behaviour and the number of affordable homes have been some concerns raised by residents.
