POLICE have arrested five men after a fight at The Bridge nightclub in Oxford in the early hours of yesterday morning.

At 3am, an argument started between a group of black men, which escalated into a large fight with reports of glasses and bottles being thrown.

Two men were left with deep lacerations to their faces, with one needing surgery in the John Radcliffe Hospital.

A group of four men were ejected from the club in Hythe Bridge Street by its security team.

They were arrested immediately afterwards on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with another man who left the club voluntarily.

They have all been questioned and released on police bail until Saturday.

Det Insp Simon Morton, of Oxford CID, said: "Although we have made these arrests, we are interested in speaking to anyone who was at The Bridge on Saturday night/Sunday morning and who saw this fight take place.

"Alcohol-related disorder is a priority for us in Oxford and we are doing all we can to clamp down on this sort of violence.

"As well as pursuing convictions against all those involved in this incident, we are also looking into using Anti-social Behaviour Orders and banning orders."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Det Insp Morton on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
