A FLAMBOYANT array of pantomime dames spread Christmas magic among almost 600 children and young people at a free performance of Cinderella.
The pantomime was put on at Oxford Playhouse on Thursday by the Oxfordshire Freemasons as a treat for youngsters facing disabilities and disadvantage, who might otherwise not have been able to go.
Some 590 excited visitors packed into the theatre in Beaumont Street for the performance and enjoyed a free ice cream at the interval.
After the curtain came down each child was also given the chance to meet Father Christmas and his helpers to receive a goody bag.
Councillors including Lord Mayor of Oxford Mohammed Altaf-Khan also came along to the event.
Norman MacRae, the leader of West Oxfordshire District Council, said: "Once again it is wonderful to see so many young people enjoying themselves.
"At this festive time of year it's a particular joy for everyone of all ages and cultures to join in the likes of a traditional pantomime."
