A man's body was discovered by a member of the public in a lake off Abingdon Road in Oxford this morning.
The member of the public alerted police after noticing the body floating in the lake in Lake Street at 11.10am.
Twelve uniform and CID officers cordoned off the area and are now conducting an investigation into the death.
Oxford police spokesman Toby Shergold said: "Police were alerted by a member of the public who saw the man's body floating in the water.
"The man has not yet been identified and we will be liaising with the coroner regarding the outcome of the post mortem examination.
"It is not yet known if there if this is a suspicious death, or what caused it, as we are still in the very early stages of our investigation."
