Dreary weather was not enough to drive away the punters at the Oxfordshire Motor Show and Summer Craft Fayre in Cutteslowe Park on Sunday.

There was a steady influx of people and cars at the event with hundreds dodging the showers to sneak a peak at the latest models on the forecourt.

Carrie and Mike Baker, from Didcot, with Angela, eight and Laurence, six, braved the elements for a day out.

Mr Baker said: "There was enough to look at, the people were very friendly and the children got some goody-bags from the stalls.

"You just can't let the weather defeat you, can you?"

Ian and Pauline Phillips, from Headington, said: "It's been pretty good despite the weather - there was enough going on."

But it was not all about the petrolheads.

One exhibit which attracted a lot of attention was Chrissie's Owls, the owl rescue centre from Stonesfield.

Alan Charlett said: "We have five on show here, 39 at the centre, and there has been a lot of interest in the birds themselves and in our work."

In the craft tent Paul Sutton and Michelle Deer, who have just opened their Pet Extraordinarium shop, in Wallingford, said: "Business has been brisk with a lot of people buying and many visitors interested in our products."

Wendy Harbottle, group advertising manager for the Oxford Mail and The Oxford Times, which sponsored the show, said: "There has been a steady stream of people. The weather hasn't helped, but everyone seems to have had a good time.

"And many have contributed a lot of money to the Oxford Children's Hospital appeal."
