LATEST UPDATE: Fresh calls for safety after Tuesday's horror crash

A BOY remains in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a bus yesterday.

The 12-year-old was struck yesterday while walking along Cowley Road at around 3pm.

Thames Valley Police spokesperson Hannah Jones said this morning: “The boy, who was a pedestrian, remains in a serious but stable condition in the John Radcliffe Hospital.

“No one has been arrested in connection with the collision.”

The road was shut in both directions by police officers for around two hours during the incident before re-opening at around 5pm.

Police sealed off the area between the Iffley Road and Marsh Road junctions.

One member of the public who preferred to remain anonymous said that her daughter had been walking with the boy when the incident happened.

She said: "My daughter saw him lying on the floor, she is in bits, it has been difficult for her."

Oxford Bus Company said that buses were being diverted away from the area.
