DAVID Cameron’s new job as chairman of National Citizen Service (NCS) Patrons has been welcomed by the organisation’s Oxfordshire organiser.

Ryan Johnson said Mr Cameron’s role – his first since quitting politics – would help the NCS to expand and reach out to more young people.

But Mr Cameron’s legacy was delivered a blow today as he was rated one of the worst Prime Ministers in modern history by political experts.

The NCS was set up by Mr Cameron in 2012 and allows 15 to 17-year-olds taking part in outdoor activities and working with the community.

Mr Johnson said: “With the growth that is predicted to happen in the next few years Mr Cameron’s involvement will support that.

“His support and the cross-party support means the NCS will get continued growth and exposure.

“In our experience every single young person who has been through has said it is the best experience of their lives.”

But NCS has not done anything to help Mr Cameron’s reputation among academics, who rated him below Gordon Brown and James Callaghan as one of the worst British PMs since the Second World War.

Only Sir Anthony Eden and Sir Alec Douglas-Home were ranked lower.
