AN elderly woman was taken to hospital with 'potentially serious' injuries in a crash that shut the A44 for several hours yesterday.

A van and a lorry crashed near Kiddington, just north of Woodstock, leaving three passengers in need of hospital treatment.

The road was shut both ways between the B4027 Glympton turn-off and the B4022, for about four hours.

Michelle Archer, spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service, said two rapid response crews and three ambulances were sent out at 4.17pm after the crash.

She said: "An elderly female has potentially serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe."

An elderly men and another woman were also taken to the Headington hospital, thought the extent of their injuries is not yet clear.
