A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after her car overturned and hit a tree when it left the ring road between the Littlemore roundabout and the Cowley junction.

One lane was blocked Eastbound for about half an hour but has now been reopened, although reports are still showing major queues in the area in both directions.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Jack Abell said officers were called to the scene just after 1pm.

An ambulance was called and a woman was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue crew manager Mark Oddi said: "We were called to a road traffic collision with one person trapped in a car off the Eastern bypass.

"It included one female driver who was released from the car before we got there and the car had left the carriageway and collided with a tree."
