A STRIKE by teachers has been backed by the Green Party in Oxfordshire.
National Union of Teachers members in England voted by 92 per cent to go on strike on Tuesday to protect pay and working conditions.
The union has called for increased funding for education, improved and guaranteed terms and conditions in all types of schools and new negotiations on teacher contracts to allow workload issues to be addressed.
Oxfordshire County Council Green Party group leader David Williams said: "In Oxfordshire high housing costs make the general teacher recruitment and retention crisis even worse than elsewhere."
