THE mother of drowned teenager Connor Sparrowhawk said she was "incredibly moved" by a concert held in his memory.

Sara Ryan listened as a choir celebrated her 18-year-old son's life in song at an opera concert on Sunday evening.

Dr Ryan, who studied in Warwick where the concert was held, said: "It was brilliant. Warwick Chamber Choir sang part of Michael Tippett's opera Child of Our Time, it was incredibly moving."

She was joined at University of Warwick Arts Centre by relatives of the Oxford teenager, who drowned under care of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Connor, who had autism and learning disabilities, died after having an epileptic fit in the bath at Slade House in Headington.

Campaign group Justice for LB, which pushed the NHS to admit failures shrouding his death, organised the concert ahead of the third anniversary of his death on Monday.

A quilt stitched together in tribute to Connor hung from the centre's balcony, which Dr Ryan said has been taken back to her mother's house "ready for its next outing".

Board members of Southern Health will meet in Southampton today and are set to mention Connor's case, particularly an abusive voicemail received by Dr Ryan in April by somebody claiming to work for the trust.

Earlier this month Southern Health admitted it "caused" Connor's death and offered £80,000 compensation to his family.

Dr Ryan rejected an invitation to meet the trust's chairman Tim Smart this Friday and said his efforts were "too little too late".
