POLICE are looking for a man who threatened another with a knife at a cashpoint before making off with his money.

The male victim was withdrawing money from a cash machine outside Martins newsagents in Balfour Road, Blackbird Leys, at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 8, when he was approached by a man with a knife.

The offender threatened the victim with the knife and stole the money before cycling off along Tucker Road.  Thames Valley Police say the man is white, in his mid twenties, with fair hair, around 5ft 9ins and was wearing a blue hooded jumper at the time.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Local residents spoke of their shock after hearing about the attack.

Balfour Road resident Steven Awkins said: "It's a shock. I've lived here in Blackbird Leys for 9 years and the shops are pretty safe here. I don't use it [the cashpoint] but if I did I still would."

Sasarthan Pathmanathapilli, who works at the best-one convenience store two doors down from Martin's, said: "The police came in last week and took our CCTV.

"We haven't had issues at the cashpoint before. This area was ok but now it's been a bit dangerous."

Investigating officer, Designated Investigator Beth Stevens of Local CID based at St Aldates Police Station Oxford, said: "If you witnessed this incident or have any information about the robbery please contact me via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101."
