THEY'LL carry your bags to your room and beat up a bad guy on the way.

Staff at the Oxford Belfry hotel, near Thame, transformed into superheroes yesterday to save the world.

More specifically, Spiderman Batman and Snow White were greeting guests in costume to raise money for Oxford children's hospice Helen and Douglas House.

Visitors were asked to drop some money in a bucket, in aid of the Magdalen Road home, as they parked their cars.

General manager Julian White - aka Spiderman - thanked hotel guests for going along with the fun.

He said: "Having supported Helen and Douglas House for a number of years, the charity is very close to our hearts.

"Some of us have visited the houses and seen what great work is done there and we are really proud to play a small part in helping to raise funds.

"We rely on the generosity of our valued hotel guests to help make this happen and we would like to extend our thanks for their support."

After yesterday's success, the hotel team are now planning to repeat the stunt on Monday, May 23.

The Oxford Belfry has supported Helen and Douglas House for three years and in that time raised nearly £5,000 through washing cars, quiz nights and other fundraisers.

The hospice's corporate account manager Suzi Attree said: "We rely almost entirely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to care for children and young adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

"Because of this, long-term support from groups like The Oxford Belfry Hotel is incredibly important to us."
