THE world's first all-animal rendition of a birthday tune starring homeless Oxfordshire pets will celebrate the Queen's milestone today.

Furry friends at Blue Cross' Burford Rehoming Centre hit the right notes as they made their own music in the special track marking Her Majesty's 90th birthday.

Rabbits, rats, dogs, horses and a guinea pig cared for at the Shilton Road centre took centre stage in the unique tribute to Queen Elizabeth unveiled on YouTube yesterday.

Manager of the Burford Rehoming Centre Jenna Martyn said: "From corgis to horses, we know that the Queen loves being surrounded by animals, so we wanted to mark her 90th year by creating this version of Happy Birthday, featuring so many of our wonderful pets who are seeking new homes."

The compilation of animal sounds were recorded at the 12 Blue Cross rehoming centres across the country before being remixed into the old-age Happy Birthday song.

Animal stars from the county included five-month-old white rabbits Mallon and Pom, one-year-old rats Malcolm and Murdoch and two-year-old white guinea pig Daisy.

British Bulldog Lexi, 7, also featured alongside seven-year-old Piebald horse Sultana and nine-year-old grey horse Splenda.

Blue Cross' one-year-old Staffie cross Mary also visited Buckingham Palace with a birthday card for the Queen, who was the charity's patron in its centenary year in 1997, ahead of her 90th - roughly 500 dog years.

Blue Cross, which has been caring for sick, injured and homeless pets since 1897, said over the past 90 years it has helped thousands of animals find new homes.

But the 31 animals who recorded the sweet music for the Queen are yet to find homes and are still searching for kind-hearted families to care for them.
