A WOMAN who admitted killing a cyclist while driving under the influence of alcohol is to be sentenced next month, police have said.
Maria Sutton, of Newlands Way, Cholsey, was involved in a collision with 55-year-old cyclist Graham Ruecroft in Wallingford Road, Cholsey, at about 10.15pm on June 4 last year, but failed to stop afterwards.
Mr Ruecroft was taken to hospital but died of his injuries on June 9.
Sutton, who was arrested on June 5, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice at Oxford Crown Court on December 23 and to causing death by driving without due care and attention whilst over being over the prescribed alcohol limit at the crown court on Tuesday, April 5.
She has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at the crown court on May 19.
Last June it was reported Mr Ruecroft, of Wallingford, was a respected research chemist, company director and a talented brass band player.
Oxford and Cherwell band conductor Terry Brotherhood said his bandmate was a “fantastic” player, had an impressive intellect and was a “fabulous bloke”.
