A NORTH Oxfordshire train station has been given a £20,000 funding boost to help increase community interest in its work.
Tackley Station was chosen by Great Western Railway to receive a chunk of its £2.2 million communities improvement fund.
The money will help fund new initiatives to get more people using the railway who would not normally.
Parish councillor Robin Gibbons said: "Tackley is a wonderful village for getting people involved in events and projects.
"We are delighted that we have got funding from the fund to help us create more community interest in our railway station."
Funding bids were made last summer, with final recommendations from GWR being approved by the Department for Transport.
GWR managing director Mark Hopwood said: "We are committed to improving the journeys of our passengers, as well as the economic prosperity and social footprint of the regions and communities we serve.
"We had many responses from those in our communities looking for help, and I am delighted to be able to announce the schemes that have been successful in this first year of funding."
