THE father of a girl brutally shot down by the Taliban will be visiting Oxford next month to share his daughter's story as part of the Oxford Human Rights Festival.

Malala Yousafzai's father Ziauddin will be introducing biographic film 'He Named Me Malala' as part of the festival, which will be run by students from Oxford Brookes University from February 10 to 13.

A Master's student in Development and Emergency Practice at the university, Maria Assaf, said: "The annual Oxford Human Rights Festival is designed to convey the idea that humanity shares such problems as we become more interconnected.

"With exhibitions, performance and films from all over the world, myself and other Master’s students in Development and Emergency Practice, are trying to create an artistic and intellectual platform for the Oxford community to interact and be part of these discussions."

Now in its 14th year, the festival will be highlighting a range of issues including women's rights, global equality and the migrant crisis.
