Police are hunting for a man accused of causing the death of a woman while driving uninsured and over the alcohol limit who has failed to appear in court.

David Farnell, 28, from Britannia Road, Banbury, was last known to be at home on December 15 last year, but then failed to appear at Oxford Crown Court on January 8.

The force said he was known to frequent the Bicester and Banbury areas.

Farnell was charged in November with causing death while driving without due care and attention, while over the prescribed limit and causing death while uninsured.

The incident happened on July 27 2015 in Sutton Courtney near Abingdon on Drayton Road.

The crash took place at about 3.10pm when a blue and silver Mitsubishi hit a tree and the 43-year-old female passenger died at the scene.

Sgt Beth Walton of Roads Policing said: "David Farnell was due to appear at Oxford Crown Court on Friday January 8 after he was charged with causing death whilst driving without due care and attention, whilst over the prescribed limit and causing death whilst ininsured.

"He failed to appear and we need to locate him to enable legal proceedings to continue. We would ask anyone who knows of his whereabouts top contact us as a matter of urgency."
