A lorry carrying wooden panels today shed its load on to a passing car in Faringdon.

The passenger door on the driver’s side of the car was damaged and the window smashed as the heap of timber fell off the lorry heading down Gravel Walk.

Oxford Mail:

Resident Daniel James Homewood - who drove by the incident - estimated the road was blocked for more than two hours as the load was removed and paramedics checked those involved.

He said: "I was driving back from Swindon and noticed on the way past the road was closed.

"On one side are over-hanging trees that may have pushed the panels off the back and into the side of the car.

"It was a female driver and a child but thankfully the child's seat was on the pavement side of the car.

"I spoke to our PCSO who said the lady was taken into one of the houses and checked by paramedics for shock. Nobody was hurt."

Oxford Mail:

Mr Homewood said he saw the road blocked at about 3.15pm and at about 3.45pm a forklift arrived to clear the wood.
