THE first snow flurry of the year sprinkled across Oxfordshire through the night and has settled on high ground in parts of county today.

Wintry showers of sleet fell throughout the night in Oxford and Abingdon.

People woke up to scenic views in the countryside where the majority of places had been kissed with the snow.

The Rollright Stones near Chipping Norton received a dusting of snow.

Photographer Mark Hemsworth took some shots of the snow this morning:

Lewknor is one of the areas which has had a dusting of snow in the county but snow has been turning to sleet and is not settling on the roads.

Fundraisers also walked around the grounds of Blenheim Palace to raise money for Sobell House Hospice.

Stephen Dunn from Bicester tweeted this snow picture, saying "first #snow sprinkle of the year. Do you want to build a snowman?"

Drivers are urged to take care on untreated roads, with temperatures set to remain around freezing for the rest of the day.
