A CYCLIST has died after being involved in a crash with a car on New Years Eve, police have said.

The 52-year-old man, from Marcham, was riding on the A415 Marcham Road, between Marcham and the A34, at about 9.40pm when the collision with a blue Ford Fiesta took place.

Thames Valley Police said both vehicles were travelling towards Marcham.

The man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with a serious head injury, but died yesterday. 

No arrests have been made in connection with the crash.

Investigating officer Julie Hunt said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the police immediately.

"I would also urge anyone travelling between Abingdon and Marcham on the A415 Marcham Road in either direction between about 9.25pm and 9.45pm on New Year’s Eve who saw a cyclist to come forward.
"If you have any information please contact the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101."
