YESTERDAY'S evening’s downpour formed a glorious sight across Oxfordshire’s skies.

Mary Spicer captured a rainbow in Tackley after her fiancé Mark sent her a text message to tell her it was gracing the sky.

She said: “By the time I got out there the rainbow was only partial, but then I noticed that I could see these anticrepuscular rays. It's very common to see crepuscular rays fanning out from the sun, especially around sunset.

“But here you can see that the rays are in the east, on the opposite side of the sky from where you would normally see crepuscular rays. These are much more unusual.

“I've only seen it once before but this is the first time I've caught them on camera.”
