THE NUMBER of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in the county has dropped by about a third over the past 12 months.
A total of 2,360 people were claimants across Oxfordshire on June 11 this year, down from 3,537 a year before.
South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse are among 10 districts in the whole of the UK with the lowest proportion of claimants, at 0.3 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, the number of claimants in Oxford City has now fallen to below 1,000, from 1,182 last year to 829 this year.
