TELEVISION crews were back in Oxford yesterday as filming took place on the Thames.

It appeared that a scene was being shot for one of the city’s famous detective series, believed to be Lewis rather than Endeavour, but ITV would not confirm which.

The stars of Lewis, Kevin Whately, Laurence Fox and Angela Griffiths, were also spotted filming in Wellington Square yesterday.

Cast and crews from both series have been in the city recently as they prepare for new episodes to arrive on viewers’ screens.

Last month a coffee shop in King Edward Street in the city centre was used for a scene in Lewis, while filming also took place off Cornmarket Street in April for Endeavour.

In May the Morse prequel returned to the city as cameras rolled in Wellington Square and Christ Church Meadow.

In September ITV confirmed Endeavour would return for a third series but did not say when it would take place. A broadcast date for the ninth series of Lewis has also not been confirmed.
