A SAILOR who took his boat around the world for three years is displaying 12ft-high paintings compiling his experiences.
John Hazell, who has lived in Oxford for 12 years, packed his bags and set off from Dartmouth with a friend to embark on his journey in 2011.
His journey took him to Gibraltar, Lanzarote, the Caribbean, Central America and Asia before being stuck in Oman for three months because pirate activity made sailing too dangerous. Eventually he attached his boat to a freighter to return to Gibraltar and sailed back to his wife and children.
Now his experiences are available to see at the OVADA Warehouse in Osney Lane as part of an exhibition called Breathing Space.
He said: “The paintings give you my perspective from the trip.”
The exhibition opened last week and runs for two weeks.
