I AGREE with Tony Augarde when he says any alterations to the Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts will not improve traffic flow at these points.

It’s the same with Frideswide Square. Apart from making it prettier for drivers to look at as they sit in their vehicles at congested peak times, it will not change anything.

The same goes for The Plain and where the Cowley Road and Iffley Road meet The Plain. There is an accident waiting to happen.

It never ceases to amaze me that Oxfordshire County Council can access all these millions for new roadworks when at the same time it has to consider saving millions by cutting spending on public services and welfare, while also increasing councillors’ allowances.

Why is the county so hell bent on causing further unnecessary disruption and agony for drivers with crackpot alterations that will never improve the traffic flow?

What is needed (but can it be afforded?) is an elevated roadway as the A40 approaches the Wolvercote roundabout, above Sunderland Avenue and rejoin the A40 east of the Cutteslowe roundabout for through traffic.

Oh dear!

That would be impossible as all those people living along Sunderland Avenue would be up in arms, not to mention the devaluation of their properties. Don’t know what the answer is really, but I daresay those in charge will waste millions debating the situation and more unworkable planning ideas.
