Last week, we told how the family of Georgia French, who died in a coach crash in Peru, had decided to set up a trust fund in her memory.
Today, we report that the family of Hassan Hussain, who drowned in the River Cherwell, are planning a similar move.
The two funds will perpetuate the names of two highly promising Oxford teenagers, and help both families in their grief.
But they will also have wider implications for the rest of the community.
Georgia was on a gap year adventure when she was killed and her fund will help others to fulfil similar ambitions of travelling abroad.
The fund in her memory will broaden the minds and horizons of young people, who might not otherwise be able to afford such opportunities so early in life.
Hassan's fund aims to help more children to swim - vital in a city like Oxford, which has so many waterways.
The lives of both teenagers were tragically cut short, but if there is any comfort for the families, it is that the names of their loved ones will live on, and that other young people will stand to benefit from their legacies.
