IT IS two years since little Saisha-Indiana Davies was named Oxford Mail Baby of the Year but she is still beaming her award-winning smiles.

Mum Gemma Davies, 32, said she was “overwhelmed” when her daughter scooped first prize in the 2013 competition at the age of 10 months.

The South Oxford full-time mum-of-one continues to dote on Saisha-Indiana, describing her as an “angel” who shows no signs of entering the “terrible twos” so far.

Mother and daughter spend a lot of time outdoors looking after Saisha-Indiana’s Shetland pony Freckles, who is stabled at the Oxford Spires Hotel in Abingdon Road.

Ms Davies, who has separated from Saisha-Indiana’s father Luke Robinson since the competition, said: “Saisha-Indiana is such an angel. She’s a very well-behaved and confident girl.

“We haven’t had the terrible twos.

“We spend quite a lot of time at the stables looking after Freckles.

“She’s a real outdoors girl and loves everything to do with nature.

“And she’s very much into My Little Pony. She’s amazing.”

Saisha-Indiana came out top after scoring the most votes to win a one-week holiday worth up to £1,000 courtesy of Vauxhall Holiday Park, as well as a canvas print of the winning photo and a trophy, courtesy of Fraser Portraits.

Although the family’s prize holiday plans had to be abandoned at the last minute because Saisha-Indiana had a tummy bug, the winning photo still hangs in pride of place in her bedroom as a lasting reminder.

Ms Davies added: “We have kept all the newspaper clippings to put in a scrapbook and show her when she’s older.”

More than 5,400 votes were cast by phone, text and coupon in the 2013 competition for the 283 entries. The runners-up that year were Headington tot Bobby Charlett, aged two, and Mya Wright, aged 11 months, from Wootton, Abingdon. Their families each won a three to four-day break worth up to £500 courtesy of Vauxhall Holidays, a canvas print of their photo and a trophy courtesy of Fraser Portraits.
