One is used to reading about development issues in the Oxford Mail. However, the development I refer to is somewhat different.

I am referring to the development of photographic print.

Photography has been a hobby of mine for the past 40 years. Unfortunately since the advent of the digital camera, standards of film developing at high street processors have declined steeply.

To get decent prints now I have to look outside Oxford and use the more expensive London photography labs.

Call me a Luddite, but for “proper” photography I still use 35mm film cameras, only using digital as a necessary evil when I need instant results.

Please, Oxford photographic developers, please take a bit more care with film developing. Remember that there are still many people using film photography, either along with or instead of digital.

I would much rather spend my money in Oxford, but until I find a local company that retains the photographic developing skills of old, I will carry on using the London labs.
