TOTS across Oxfordshire are monkeying around at a new music scheme in Oxford, Abingdon and Thame.

Monkey Music is a pre-school music group for children aged between three months and four years to encourage development and stimulation.

The scheme has weekly classes in the St Margaret’s Institute, Oxford, The Crown and Thistle, Abingdon, and The Girlguiding Headquarters, Thame. They are run by Flick and Richard Moorhouse, who said they are delighted with the response so far.

Mrs Moorhouse said: “Monkey Music was the first group of its kind when it first started in London in 1993.

“It is wonderful to see how totally absorbed children become in Monkey Music and how quickly they pick up musical concepts.

“It aims to introduce music to very young children in a fun way they can easily understand and enjoy."

“Each class is themed around the everyday life of a very young child and is a special time in the week for parents and carers to simply stop, look at each other and enjoy the sensory experience of sound together.”
