A TREASURE trove of rare antiques will go on display at Blenheim Palace tomorrow (Thurs, April 16).
Twenty nine dealers will display their wares at the annual Cotswolds Art & Antiques Dealers Association Fair.
Objects will range from oak furniture and silver, to tapestries, portraits and drawings by old masters.
Highlights include a rare English brass chandelier dated to 1688, an octagonal tortoiseshell tea caddy dated to 1820, which is valued at £8,750, and an exquisite amboyna silver gilt vanity box from 1854 listed at £8,500.
Paintings are also well represented including an oil on canvas depicting Polperro in Cornwall by Dutch artist Hendrik Jan Wolter [1873-1952].
Some of the profits from the fair will help raise money for the Winston Churchill Memorial Window, a new stained glass window on the South side of St Martin’s Church in Bladon where the war-time leader is buried.
The window is designed by Emma Blount, a young stained glass award-winning artist, and is being installed to mark the 50th anniversary of Churchill’s death in January 2015. The fair is open until Sunday, from 10am-5.30pm.
The CADA Fair is the only art and antique fair staged within the Palace’s Colonnade, Campaign Rooms and Orangery.
