ON A recent trip to Kidlington Market, I bought some spring flowers from Bunkers Hill, a small local nursery.

The plants were presented in a biodegradable plastic bag, which will break down into nothing in the environment.

If a small business can afford to do this, why can’t the big supermarkets do the same?

Plastic bags are choking wildlife in the sea and are a blot on the landscape of our roadsides. It surely makes sense to make all plastic bags biodegradable, and charge a small fee to the shopper. This will help save our wildlife and protect our fragile environment.
