PUPILS from Larkmead School took a walk on the wild side when they volunteered at an animal sanctuary.
They repainted rooms, handed out leaflets and carried out maintenance tasks at the Oxford Animal Sanctuary in Stadhampton.
They were also introduced to some of the sanctuary’s occupants, including recent arrival Sacha the British Bulldog.
Harriet Cooper, 14, said: “We have worked really hard to try to advertise the sanctuary, because we want people to help out and adopt more of the animals.
“Not a lot of people know about it, so we want to draw some attention to it and let people know they’re here.”
Their day was organised through SkillForce, a scheme which teaches young people to work as a team and helps them get experience of practical skills for employment.
