Sir – Once again we have county council officers Daniel Round and Stuart Wilson not facing reality, when one says we do not need a link road between the A40 and the A44 and the other that there has been no significant change in the volume of traffic in the last 10 years. Has either seen the traffic on the A44 southbound from 7am onwards?

It is regularly queuing from Yarnton to Wolvercote roundabout, and the A40 is very slow moving from west of Eynsham from 6.30am onwards. This link road should have been built when the A34 viaduct was replaced.

We will shortly have the new Parkway Station, the Northern Gateway proposal, the 1,500 houses proposed at Woodstock and the 300-plus at Long Hanborough.

Sorry,  but am I missing something here, where is all this traffic supposed to go?

Still on the subject of traffic, the Highways Agency seems to be very good at wasting money ie Junction 9 on the M40 is no better with regular queues. It should have been designed the same as the M40 junction at High Wycombe, with a slip road to the M40 northbound. Further up the M40 at Junction 10, this will be the third attempt to try and get it right. Don’t hold your breath.

Do these people who design these junctions drive a vehicle? I don’t think they even ride a bicycle. Ms Blackwood is right in everything she says, we are fed up of being stuck in traffic every day through the incompetence of the above. The man hours lost everyday is colossal, not to mention the frustration.
