Sir – From midnight last night until 11am this morning a rave took place in Kings Wood just outside Woodstock.

These, what I would usually call a lot worse but in this case let’s say, louts, ruined a beautiful area of forest, having a fire and covering the whole area in litter.

They also kept my son up all night and, of course, the rest of the house and neighbours. I happen to come from a background of nightclubs and still have some bars and clubs so am no prude or miserable old sod, but these people were out to cause trouble.

The police were excellent but had no choice but to allow the party to go on because if they went in too strong they risked injury to themselves and the partygoers.

I watched as kids literally walked past into the forest ready to get as high as kites. They had no worries and behaved with such arrogance I was in shock. This morning there is drug paraphernalia everywhere. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence and one of the most dangerous our local police have to deal with, sometimes being belted with bottles etc.

Legislation needs to be changed to allow stronger action. In the end I believe the organisers equipment will be confiscated and no one will be charged. This will happen again somewhere else next month!!?? Mad.
