Sir – I chanced upon your town’s now ex-crier Anthony Church a couple of years ago while visiting Oxford. I was interested in talking to him as he was proudly wearing a medal from the Falklands War in 1982, something I, genuinely, was involved in.

I wish I had reported him to someone as I noticed the medal was not inscribed round the circumference like mine, and all genuine ones are. This man ought to be ashamed of himself as through his selfish vanity he is degrading the memory of the 255 British service personnel who gave their lives to that conflict.
