WOOD engravers from all over the world have their work on display in an exhibition at Art Jericho gallery in Oxford.

The Society of Wood Engravers exhibition features art from the UK, USA, Russia and Japan and runs until tomorrow.

The professional association, which has 200 members globally, holds an annual show at the gallery.

Emma Pearce, 28, who is working as assistant curator at the gallery as part of a work placement for her fine art degree at Oxford Brookes University, said: “Traditionally wood engravings are of landscapes, so there are quite a lot of those and the amount of detail in them is amazing.

"There are also a lot of abstract works too and quite a lot in colour, which is unusual. It’s a really lovely exhibition – there are some wonderful pieces.”

The galley is open from Wednesdays to Sundays between noon and 6pm.

It is closed from today until Sunday.
