I WOULD like to make the following points about the closure of First Turn...
Why is the replacement of the bridge going to take 10 months?
Why was the balustrade of the current bridge repaired about a year ago? Why was the county council given so little notice?
Because of the diversion I shall have to travel much further, and round Wolvercote roundabout (not without risk on my bike, aged 71) to travel south to the city centre.
Wolvercote Primary school is having major work done at the same time; this will add to the traffic chaos in and around St Peter’s Road.
At the very least, there should be a pedestrian and cycle route available via a temporary bridge over the line while this major work is taking place. And, almost worst of all, is the total lack of consultation with, and information to, the local community.
