A 40-year-old man arrested in Mallorca has pleaded guilty to stealing more than £115,000 from an antique dealer in Witney.

Oliver Trusgnach, of Carrer de Sant Miguel, Palma, Mallorca, was detained under a European Arrest Warrant on July 7 this year.

Ten days later he was sent back to the UK and charged with a total of 156 offences.

Yesterday at Oxford Crown Court, after the charges he faces were simplified, he admitted one count of theft and one count of forgery between April 17, 2000, and July 31, 2003.

The charges relate to the theft of £115,775.07 from Witney antique dealer WR Harvey & Co and the making of false cheques.

Trusgnach was due to be sentenced yesterday.

However, the case was adjourned so a pre-sentence report could be prepared by the Probation Service.

Judge Patrick Eccles told the defendant: “Frankly, it is not going to make a great deal of difference.

“This is not going to be a case which results in a non-custodial disposal.”

Trusgnach is now due to be sentenced at a hearing at the court on January 13 next year.
