A WOMAN accused of possessing the £55,000 proceeds from drug dealing told a jury she found the money under her stairs.
Angela Williams, 35, of Wynbush Road, Rose Hill, Oxford, denies one count of possessing criminal property on January 20 this year.
Yesterday she gave evidence for the first time at Oxford Crown Court and denied knowing her partner Ian Hunter was allegedly dealing drugs from her house.
Questioned by defence barrister Trudi Yeatman, Williams said she found the money in a black plastic bag on top of some shelves after receiving an anonymous phone call.
Miss Yeatman asked: “Did you know how long that bag had been there?”
The defendant said: “No.”
Miss Yeatman asked: “Did you know Mr Hunter was supplying drugs and using your address?”
Williams said: “No I did not.”
Miss Yeatman said: “Did you know or suspect that money to be criminal property?”
Williams answered: “No I did not.”
The trial continues.
